Biosketch

Dr Matthias Chen is an Associate Consultant with the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, National University Centre for Oral Health Singapore. He is also an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore in 2016. He commenced his training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery under the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore Postgraduate Residency Programme in 2019. He graduated with the Master of Dental Surgery (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) in 2022. Dr Chen then completed his Advanced Surgical Training and obtained his Dental Specialist Accreditation in 2024. 

Dr Chen is trained in all aspects of the medical and surgical management of general oral & maxillofacial conditions. He has a special interest in implant dentistry and orthognathic surgery.

In addition, Dr Chen enjoys teaching and is an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore. He is actively involved in the teaching of dental undergraduates as well as post graduate residents of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Programme.

In the area of research, Dr Chen has published in peer-reviewed international journals. He has presented his work in multiple local, regional and international conferences on multiple topics in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also served as faculty for professional courses in the fields of orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, and dental implantology.
