The National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) is a specialty referral centre for complex dental cases. Once active specialist treatment has been completed, patients are encouraged to return to primary care dentists for routine dental care.

To facilitate this transition, NUCOHS has introduced the General Dental Practitioner (GDP) network program in January 2024. This initiative seeks to enable patients with stable dental conditions to receive necessary follow up care and maintenance with our GDPs in the community. The program is in accordance with the Ministry of Health (MOH)'s objective of extending healthcare services "Beyond Hospital to Community." This is applicable to residents living in Singapore, including Permanent Residents and foreigners.
Our community-based GDP partners offer comprehensive support for patients transitioning from specialist treatment, which includes:
- Routine dental procedures which refer to basic dental procedures that can be managed by general dentists without advanced specialty training. This include, but is not limited to, scaling and polishing, fillings, simple extractions and dentures.
- Gum disease maintenance following discharge from specialist care at NUCOHS.
Patients under the GDP network program will benefit from:
- Close proximity to private dental clinics
- Reduced wait times for basic dental services
- Continued assistance from NUCOHS in case specialised care is required in the future.
